I took upProfessional Housekeepingfor one of my majors last term. Fancy term, professional housekeeping, huh? When all I thought we would do were to tidy up rooms and clean up bathrooms and stuff like that. Well, actually, it was exactly like that. I just didn’t think it would be so hard. I now definitely appreciate more what housekeepers do just to make hotel guests feel comfortable. I sound like a dork, but really.
I had to attend two immersion sessions, 3 hours each, at the CSB Hotel. One of my sessions was scheduled during the check-in / check-out time so I had to help my mentor tidy up rooms. This is a photo of one of the rooms I helped clean and boy, I tell you it wasn’t that easy.

// Most annoying thing evarrr//

It was very difficult for my to drag my ass out of bed this morning. Another long and draggy Tuesday, I thought to myself. I had to get up eventually, as I’ve already maximized my allowable absences in my first subject. Summer vacation has arrived on most semestral schools so our drive wasn’t much of a hassle. I even enjoyed the fact that I was already in school at around 07:15 for an 08:00 class. There’s time for coffee and cigarettes.

I went up and saw no one from my class. Turns out it was a free cut. Simultaneously, I was texting with my classmate from my second subject which was at 13:00 and found out that our prof is in Singapore. Second free cut. I dropped my third subject which is at 16:20 due to (1) excess number of absences, and (2) in all honesty, I wasn’t learning anything from that son of a bitch. All I’ve left for today is my last subject which is at 18:00. And it’s only 09:05.

Great. Just great.

// This is just the beginning//

I said I would update my blog once the term finishes and I did. I’ve written a few blog entries about my latest product discoveries and whatnot.. But somehow, I don’t feel the drive to write something more personal. I feel like I’ve lost inspiration or something. Or maybe it could be that I’ve been so preoccupied these days that I don’t have the leisure to sit down and write about whatever emotional shit hole I’m going through.

I guess so much has happened to me in the last three months that I don’t even know where to start or how to finish. If it’s finished at all. I don’t want to be a stone but at the same time I also want to escape all of these emotions. I hate having a girl heart!!!

Anyway, tonight is my last night of rest. School’s resuming tomorrow and I’ve got no time to lose. Last term was a term full of minor subjects and I hated it. Everyone thinks taking up minor subjects all term is a breeze but it’s not. Actually, it’s such a hassle considering you have to produce a lot of output, projects and reports. So I’m actually happy that next term, I’m going to start on my foundation subjects. It’s going to be a heavier load, but I’m used to it anyway (hehehe). I will still try to update as much as I can, since I’m going to school from home (instead of a condo) this time.

// Curiosity killed the cat//

As most of you might already know, I’m taking up Travel and Tourism as my final course in college. Having to explain this to everyone who asks is such a hassle. What really happened was I originally had taken up Human Biology in the hopes of becoming a doctor. With lack of focus and probably determination as well, I failed a few math and chemistry subjects. I wanted to shift to International Studies major in European studies but my mom advised me to take up a business course instead and that’s what got me into Marketing Management. It was a whole different thing altogether but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I breezed through four terms without any unit failures so that was a good thing until I took up Business Calculus and Financial Management in one term. I suck at math so bad and it probably isn’t a good enough excuse for most of you, but I guess it’s the reason why I failed both. And it’s also the reason why I decided to transfer schools. I had failed so many units already and I thought to myself that I didn’t want to wait till the school kicked me out. At least transferring schools was a decision I had to make by choice.

Anyway, I was supposed to take up Consular in Diplomatic Affairs which is closer to International Studies but decided against it because I felt it wasn’t broad enough of a course and industry to take. I resulted into taking BS-Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management major in Travel in Tourism. When I tell my friends this, they often ask me: "So ano ka na in the future? Taga-tour, ganon?" (What will you be in the future? A tourist guide?)

For the record, being in the Tourism industry doesn’t only mean becoming a tourist guide. It means arranging, managing and organizing events. It may also mean venturing into the advertising and marketing world. I can even become a hotelier. Tourism is one of the things that makes this country’s economy run. When you guys go on vacations locally or abroad, that’s tourism. Attending events and seminars in the country or in foreign lands is also tourism.

Seriously, how can so many people know little about this? Having to explain it to everyone feels like I’m lecturing an 8-year old kid.

Today was the most exhausting day ever! I had to wake up really early as I had to claim my chest x-ray and then I went straight to Taft with my boyfriend. The enrollment was such a hassle, but I’m just glad I finished it in a day. I had to take up the minor subjects that I hadn’t taken up yet so my first term back in school will be a breeze. I have 18 academic units and 3 non-academic units which will take up six days of my week. Only my Mondays and Wednesdays are jam-packed so that’s a good thing. Most of my classes are held in the earlier part of the day so I have to train my body clock before the academic year starts.
I’ve been idle for the past five months, so having a six-day school schedule is actually more than I’ve bargained for. I cannot wait to be busy, always up and on about something relevant.
